Summit House Support provides a range of structured support services to people residing in the Boroughs of Dudley and Sandwell who are living with or affected by HIV/AIDS (PLWHIV).
We aim to empower, enable greater independence, build confidence and strengthen the ability to deal with issues commonly experienced by stigmatised communities.
We also seek to work in partnership with the wider community to overcome barriers faced by vulnerable adults when accessing mainstream services, training education and employment.
During 2013/2014 and following the publication of HIV prevalence rates in the Dudley Borough an initiative was launched to increase access to HIV Point Of Care (instant) testing in specific areas by training local pharmacies.
This campaign concluded with National HIV Get Tested Week (23-29 Nov) and launched our 1st December World AIDS Day awareness campaign.
SHS also delivers HIV and Homophobic/Gender Awareness training throughout Dudley.
Looking forward to 2014/2015 we will continue to work with PLWHIV to develop services and Summit House will also continue to work with all partners to raise awareness of HIV and encourage HIV testing.
