What’s involved in having a HIV test?:

Our HIV tests are simple and fast. All that is needed is to take a very small blood sample of blood which is obtained from a finger prick.

How long will it take to get my results?:

The whole process is very fast. Once we have your blood sample, you will get your results in around 15 minutes.

Where will my test be carried out?:

Summit House Support has offices in Dudley. We also run testing clinics at other community locations. All of the sites we carry out testing at are professional and confidential. You can be tested at a site which best suits you.

I would like to have HIV test but I’m worried about it. Who can I talk to?:

Staff at Summit House Support are all professionally trained. You will have the opportunity to ask them any questions you may have before having a test. Having a HIV test can be worrying for many people and before you have your test, a staff member will go through what’s involved and explain the benefits of knowing your HIV status and then you can decide if you are happy to go ahead. This is called giving ‘informed consent’. We will only carry out the HIV test if you are happy to do so after having this pre-test information.

Our staff can also give information and advice on issues around HIV and safer sex in a non-judgmental way. (You do not have to have a HIV test to ask any questions around these issues. Our staff will be happy to talk to you about any concerns you may have).

What support is available for people who have a HIV diagnosis?

Summit House Support has been providing support to people living with and affected by HIV for 23 years. We provide a range of support services so that people do not have to deal with a HIV diagnosis alone.

Treatment and medication for people with a HIV diagnosis is extremely effective nowadays and people can continue to live healthy and full lives.

Our Staff can give you information on support or treatment for people living with or affected by HIV.
